Neofenicol 10%

Composition: 1 ml of oral solution contains:

Florfenicol 100mg

Indications:

Swine: respiratory infections (PRS) associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae,

Pasteurella multocida, Salmonella cholearensis and Streptococcus suis type 2-infection.

Poultry:the treatment of respiratory and other bacterial infections caused by

microorganisms sensitive to florfenicol..

Contraindications: The knowledge about previous allergic reactions animals to

florfenicol .The drug is not administered to animals that do not belong to the target

species, or breeding animals. The drug should not be given to laying hens.

Side effects: Literature data show that after use, for florfenicol in pigs usually observed

phenomenon of transient diarrhea and / or the perianal and rectal edema and / or

erythema in about 50% of the animals. Giving florfenicol no effects on body weight gain

or food consumption, although there may be a transient reduction in food intake and

water at the start of therapy.

Target species: swine, poultry.

Dosage and method of administration:

The drug is administered in drinking water.

Pigs: daily dosage of florfenicol is 10mg/kg b.w. which is equivalent to 1.0 – 1.5 mL of

drug / L of drinking water, if the average water consumption of 2.5 L / day. The

suggested treatment period is 5 days.

Poultry: daily dose is 20mg/kg florfenicol b.w. in drinking water. The water medication for

poultry until 4 weeks of age is around 150mg florfenicol/ liter of drinking water (which is

150ml of drug /100 L of drinking water).For animals older than 4 weeks 200ml of drug

should be added to 100L of drinking water. Length of treatment: 5 consecutive days.

Instructions for proper use of the drug

The drug dissolved in drinking water is used within 24 h.

The drug used in target species. Do not use the drug in order to prevent disease.

Withdrawal period:

Swine: meat of treated pigs is not for human consumption during treatment and 20 days

after the last application of the medicine.

Poultry: meat of treated poultry is not for human consumption during treatment and 3

days after the last application of the medicine.

The drug should not be given to laying hens.

Special warning: For administration to animals.

When the drug is administered in the drinking water on a daily basis is necessary to

make a fresh solution of the drug. In order to provide successful therapies (better

consumption of the drug), it is recommended that the animals a few hours before

treatment withhold drinking water.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Do not give pregnant sows, animals intended for breeding, lactating animals like hens.

Special warnings for persons administering veterinary medicinal product to

animals

Avoid direct contact with the skin or mucous membranes. If the contact occurs, that

place should be washed immediately with running water. After each drug application,

hands should be washed.

Overdose

After administration of the recommended dose triple piglets notes the reduced intake of

food and water. After administration of the recommended dose petostrukih occurs

vomiting. In the case of overdosage discontinue drug administration and apply

symptomatic therapy.

No information on adverse effects following oral administration of double the

recommended concentration of florfenicol for three consecutive days, or after a single iv

dosage 54.4 mg / kg T.M. in broilers.

Interactions

The drug is not co-administered with bactericidal drugs. Erythromycin, clindamycin,

lincomycin and tylosin antagonize the effect of florfenicol.

Special considerations for storing drugs: Store in original container at temperatures

up to 25°C. Keep out of the reach of children.

Special precautions for disposal and destruction of drug

Unused drug or drug residues shall be destroyed in accordance with applicable

regulations.
