Neositol 10%

Composition: 1 g oral powder contains:

Levamisole hydrochloride 100mg

Indications: The drug is intended for the treatment of parasitic diseases caused by

gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodes with these animals:

Cattle, sheep and goats: Haemonchus spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Ostertagia spp.,

Cooperia spp., Nematodirus spp., Chabertia ovina, Oesophagostomum spp.,

Bunostomum spp., Strogyloides spp., Toxocara vitulorum, Protostrongilus rufescens,

Dictiocaulus spp.

Pigs: Ascaris suum, Hyostrongylus rubidus, Oesophagostomum dentatum,

Strongyloides Ransome, Metastrongylus spp. Trichuris suis.

Poultry: Ascaridia galli, Amidostomum spp, Heterakis spp. Capillaria obsignata,

Oxypirura mansoni, Syngamus tracheae.

Contraindications: The use of the preparation is contraindicated at the same time, and

for at least 14 days before or after the use of organophosphate, carbamate, or by the

action of nicotine related compounds such as diethylcarbamazin citrate, pyranthel and

morantel. This product is not given in the cows and sheep in lactation.Do not apply to

animals with diseased kidneys and liver, or to laying hens.Do not apply to other species

of animals for which the drug is not indicated.

Side effects: the side effects can be observed: transient salivation, very moist muzzle

and the nose, weak tremor of skeletal muscles, cough and diarrhea. These adverse

reactions occur after a few hours of drug administration or after 12 to 24 hours and

usually disappear spontaneously.

Target species: Cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and poultry.

Dosage and method of administration:

The drug is given at single dose (in the case of heavy infestation of drug administration

may be repeated after 2-4 weeks) orally in food, drinking water or with a probe.

Cattle: 1-2 teaspoons (5-10g of the drug) per 100 kg of body weight maximum of 9

teaspoons.

Sheep and Goats: 1/2-1 teaspoon (2.5 to 5 g of preparation) at 50 kg body weight.

Pigs: 1/2 – 1 teaspoon (2.5 – 5 g of preparation) to 50 kg body weight

Poultry:1-2 teaspoons (5-10g of the drug) to 25 kg body weight.

Instructions for proper use of the drug

Cattle: The powder is dissolved in water and given to ruminants using bottles or probe

(individual treatment).The drug give to heifer 6-8 weeks after the expulsion of the stall or

at the latest in July. If the infestation is severe medicine is given again after a month.

Product is applied once (in the case of heavy infestation of drug administration may be

repeated after 2-4 weeks).

Sheep, goats: powder is dissolved in water and given using a bottle or probe.It is given

to pregnant sheep 4-6 weeks before lambing and again after weaning lambs and other

sheep at the time of collection. It is given to new sheep when crossing from one herd to

another. It is given for lambs at the time of rejection.

Pigs: For pigs, drug is mixed with food. The powder should be mixed with the food

evenly and given in the amount that the animals will certainly eat during 1 hour. Piglets

fed together must be of equal weight, and all must have enough space for feeding.

Weaker developed piglets should be fed separately. Feces should be removed

periodically. Dehelminthization of pregnant sows is done three weeks before farrowing.

After the drug administration animals should be washed and then placed in clean stalls.

Poultry: The drug is given well mixed with food or with water using individual drinkers. If

the drug is administered through drinking water, do not give water to poultry overnight.

Not recommended to use this product with stressed animals (due to vaccination or

neutering). For animals with severe infestation, drug application should be repeated after

2-4 weeks. Because the product does not kill the eggs, after giving the medicine feces

should be safely removed or herd moved to another pasture.

Withdrawal period: Meat and edible organs are not for use during the course of

therapy, and 14 days for cattle, sheep and pigs and poultry for 28 days after the last

application of medicine. Product is not for use in lactating animals whose milk use for

human consumption, and do not use it on the hens.

Special considerations:

For use on animals

Levamisole is not used at the same time, or two weeks before and after anthelmintic and

ectocids based organophosphates and anthelmintic diethylcarbamazine pyranthela and

morantela because these drugs increase the toxic effect of levamisole.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The drug may be used during pregnancy but should avoid it is use in advanced

pregnancy (last month). It does not apply to animals during lactation if milk is used for

human consumption.

Special considerations for persons administering the veterinary medicinal product

to animals

At people who handle the drug there may occur hypersensitivity reactions to the active

substance of the drug.Avoid the direct contact with eyes, skin and mucous membranes.

After drug administration, wash your hands to prevent the occurrence of sensitization or

allergies. In case of hypersensitivity reactions see a doctor.

Special precautions for disposal and destruction of drug

Unused medication or waste material shall be destroyed in accordance with applicable

regulations.

Special considerations for storing drugs: In the original container at temperatures up

to 25°C. Keep out of the reach of children.
