Neocyclin L.A.

Composition: 1 ml solution for injection contains:

Oxytetracycline (as dihydrate) 200mg

Indications: Treatment of infections caused by organisms susceptible to oxytetracycline:

Cattle: pneumonia, pasteurellosis, diphtheria calves, treatment of postoperative and

postpartum infection.

Sheep: pneumonia, mastitis, metritis, navel infection, postpartum infection, hoof rot.

Pigs: pneumonia, enteritis, leptospirosis, mastitis, wound infections.

Contraindications: Do not give to animals with known hypersensitivity to tetracycline.

Do not give to animals with impaired liver and kidney. It is not given in the last third of

pregnancy, as well as very young animals at the age of three weaks. Drug does not

apply to horses, dogs and cats.

Side effects: When applying therapeutic doses there may occur gastrointestinal

disturbances (diarrhea), as a consequence of superinfection insensitive bacteria and

fungi. Allergic reactions in hypersensitive animals are very rare, and in case of need

apply antihistamines and corticosteroids. Sometimes at the area of ​​application of the

drug may occur local reaction that spontaneously disappear.Tetracyclines have anti

anabolic effect and can cause azotemia that can worsen with extra application of

glucocorticoids. This drug can also cause metabolic acidosis and electrolyte disbalance.

At young animals it is possible to deposit in bone and staining teeth.It is possible the

occurrence of fotodermatitis.

Target species: Cattle, sheep and pigs.

Dosage and method of administration: The drug is administered to cattle, sheep and

pigs, deep intramuscularly at a dose of 20 mg oxytetracycline / kg of body weight, or 1

mL drug to 10 kg body weight, once. If necessary, the application can be repeated after

3 days.

Instructions for proper use of drugs: If the dose exceeds 20 mL for adult cattle and

pigs, 5 mL of sheep and 2 ml of lambs and piglets, the drug must be applied at in several

places.

Before drug administration, it is recommended to make antibiograms for isolated

microorganisms, because of the increasing development of resistance to tetracycline.

The most common drug-resistant bacteria of the genera Proteus, Pseudomonas and

some strains of E. coli, Salmonella spp., Enterococcus spp., Shigella spp., Enterobacter

spp. and some strains of Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica.

Withdrawal period: Meat of treated animals is not for human consumption:

– Cattle-31 days

– Pigs – 18 days

– Sheep – 9 days

The drug is not indicated for animals whose milk is used for human consumption.

Special considerations:

For use in animals:

Because of the known antagonism, do not apply the drug simultaneously with

bactericidal antibiotics, such as β-lactam antibiotics, aminoglycosides, sulfonamides

combination with trimethoprim, polymyxin.

Use in pregnancy and lactation:

It is not given in early pregnancy, during 2-3 weeks of gestation, as well as the last third

of gravidity.Use of tetracycline during tooth and bone development can lead to tooth

discoloration and developmental bone disorders.Like other tetracycline, oxytetracycline

is excreted in milk of treated lactating animals.

Special considerations for persons administering the veterinary medicinal product

to animals:

People with known hypersensitivity to tetracycline should not handle this drug. Due to

possible irritation should avoid direct contact with the drug skin and mucous membranes.

In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash immediately with water.Wash hands after

applying the medicine.

Special precautions for disposal and destruction of drug

Unused drug or drug residues shall be destroyed in accordance with applicable

regulations.

Special considerations for storing drugs:

Store in original container at temperatures up to 25°C, keep out of reach of children.

Shelf life in original packaging: 2 years.

Shelf life after first opening: 28 days at temperatures up to 25˚C
