Description
Neofloxacin 10%
Composition: 1 ml of oral solution contains:
Enrofloxacin 100 mg
Indications: Treatment of primary and secondary bacterial and mycoplasmatic
infections and infections of respiratory and gastrointestinal tract of broilers and turkeys:
mycoplasmosis, coli infections, pasteurellosis, salmonellosis, staphylococcosis,
infectious sneezing of poultry.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to enrofloxacin and other fluorinated
quinolones.The drug is not given to laying hens.
Side effects: Possible photosensitization if the treated animals are exposed to the
effects of sunlight.
Target species: broilers, turkeys
Dosage and method of administration: The drug is used oral for the addition of
drinking water at a dose of 10mg/kg of body weight, or 50 ml NEOFLOXACIN 10% to
100 L of drinking water.
Required amount of the drug to be added to drinking water is calculated by the following
formula:
0.1 x number of treated animals x average b.w. individual (kg)
______________________________________________ = Number NEOFLOXACIN ml oral solution with 10%
The total volume of water (L) treated birds that drink to be added to 1L of water for drinking
in one day
Treatment lasts 3-5 days continuously.
At salmonellosis, pasteurellosis and chronic course of disease therapy is 5-10 days.
Instructions for proper use of drugs:
The medicine does not apply in prophylactic purposes.
Fresh solution of medicine prepared immediately before use.
After treatment with this medicine, animal watering system must be cleaned as drug
residues would not affect to the development of drug resistance.During drug application,
should take into consideration national guidelines for the application of antibiotics.
Fluoroquinolones should be used only for the treatment of those diseases for which
there are already aware or are expected to respond poorly to other classes of
antimicrobial drugs.Always, when possible, fluoroquinolones should be given only on the
basis of the findings of antibiogram.The use of drug which is not in accordance with the
instructions set out in the Summary of Product Characteristics and Instruction of the drug
may lead to increase the representation of bacteria resistant to the fluoroquinolones and
to reduce the effectiveness of treatment with other quinolones due to possible cross-
resistance.
Withdrawal period:
For meat of treated poultry withdrawal period is 8 days after the last drug administration.
The drug is not given to hens.
Special warnings:
For use on animals:
The drug is not given to hens.
Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
The medicine should not be given concurrently with tetracycline, macrolide antibiotics,
florphenicol and tiamphenicol as reduce or completely antagonized its effect, while
simultaneously with sulphonamides and trimetoprim, increasing its toxicity.
It also, does not apply to the divalent (magnesium, iron,calcium) and trivalent ions
(aluminum), because he reduce absorption from the digestive tract. The product does
not interfere with other medications.
Special considerations for persons administering the veterinary medicinal product
to animals:
In applying the drug should avoid direct contact with skin and mucous membranes, or
eyes.Hands after each application should be washed and medicine kept out of the reach
of children.
Special precautions for disposal and destruction of drug:
Unused medication or waste material shall be destroyed in accordance with applicable
regulations.
Avoid direct contamination of streams, stagnant water and groundwater.
Storage: keep drug in original container, protected from light, at temperatures below 25 °
C, keep out of reach of children
Shelf life: 2 years
Shelf life after opening: 28 days at temperatures up to 25 ° C
Shelf life after reconstruction: use immediately
