Streptomycin P

Composition: 1 g oral powder contains:

Streptomycin sulfate 1 g

Indications: Treatment of primary and secondary bacterial infections of the digestive

tract caused by microorganisms sensitive to streptomycin (E. coli, Salmonella spp.,

Pasteurella spp., Vibrio coli, Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp.) in calves, horses, pigs and

poultry.

Contraindications: Contraindicated the use of medicines in animals who also receiving

other potential ototoxic drugs, general anesthetics, myorelaxants, diuretics, followed by

myasthenia gravis, pronounced kidney damage, as well as hypersensitive animals to

streptomycin. Medicine must not be used simultaneously with tetracyclines,

sulfonamides, macrolides and lincosamides

Side effects: only sometimes, and especially after the application of a prolonged period

of time and in larger doses, streptomycin after oral administration, may adversely affect

the eighth cranial nerve and cause damage to hearing and balance, as well as some

kidney damage and hypersensitivity reactions.

Target species: calves, foals, pigs and poultry.

Dosage and method of administration: The drug is used orally in drinking water, milk

or milk substitute or mixed with food.

Calves and foals: 1 g/50 kg of body weight (in water, milk or milk substitute) 2 times a

day for 3-5 days

Pigs: 500 g / t of food for 5 days or 5 g/100 kg body weight in drinking water

Poultry: 1 g / 4 L of drinking water for 3-5 days, or 1 teaspoon (5 g) / 20 L of water.

Instructions for proper use of drugs: Make a fresh solution daily, and unfinished

remaining amount of dissolved drug safely removed.

Streptomycin is given orally only young ruminants and foals.Do not give medicine to

laying hens.

Withdrawal period: Meat and edible organs are not for use during the course of

therapy, and 10 days after the last application of the medicine. The drug does not give

hens.

Special considerations:

For each target species: Streptomycin is given orally only young ruminants and foals. It

does not apply in laying hens.

For use in animals: Subdosage, too short or long therapy leads to the development of

resistance of sensitive microorganisms. Prolonged p.o. giving streptomycin leads to

fungal superinfection and diarrhea.

If an allergic reaction occurs, immediately apply adrenalin, and if necessary,

antihistamines and glucocorticoids.

Interactions: streptomycin sulfate enhances the effect of muscle relaxants and general

anesthetics. Extremely nephrotoxic drugs (furosemide, amphotercin B, cephalosporins)

potentiate renal toxicity of this antibiotic.

Use during pregnancy and lactation: the medicine is not used during pregnancy and

lactation. Do not give medicine to laying hens.

Special considerations for persons administering the veterinary medicinal product

to animals: In people who handle the drug may be associated with hypersensitivity

reactions to the active ingredient of the drug. Avoid direct contact with the eyes, skin and

mucous membranes. In case of hypersensitivity reactions see a physician.

Special precautions for disposal and destruction of drug:

Unused drug or drug residues shall be destroyed in accordance with applicable

regulations.

Special considerations for storing drugs: Store in original container at temperatures

up to 25 ° C, keep out of reach of children.

Shelf life: 2 years in original packaging.

Shelf life after dilution / mixing in food: use right away.
