Epsom salt

Composition: MgSO4 x 7H2O – magnesium sulfate heptahydrate.

 

Action: Magnesium sulfate in the form of a concentrated solution applied orally, changes the osmotic pressure in the digestive tract. Magnesium and sulfate ion are not resorbed from the digestive tract, but osmotically retain a large amount of water in the intestines, so that there is an increase in the volume of intestinal contents and a reflex increase in intestinal peristalsis, and thus bowel emptying.

 

Indications: All types of constipation, overcrowding and paresis of the rumen, gastric indigestion, gastritis, poisoning by plant and chemical poisons. Bitter salt is also used to evacuate gastrointestinal contents in subdermatitis.

 

Application and doses:

Horses: 1g preparation / kg t.m. dissolved in 4 l of lukewarm water (applied with a nasal probe).
Cattle: 250-500 g carefully dissolved in 5-8 L of lukewarm water or flaxseed mucus orally applied with a feeding bottle.
Sheep, goats: Apply 2-5 tablespoons dissolved in ¼ L of water in a feeding bottle.
Pigs: 25-125g mixed with food
Dogs: 5-25 g of dissolved drug given orally.
Cats: 2-5 g of dissolved drug given orally.

 

Contraindications: Do not give to dehydrated animals and kidney dysfunction.

Withdrawal period: No limit.

Storage method: In the original packaging, at a temperature of up to 250C, out of reach of children.

Method of issuance: It is issued without a prescription.

Shelf life: 2 years. Use immediately after opening.
